seattle based. im an above target performer (14% rewards vs 10% target) at Microsoft for the past few years. interviewed at google. the hiring comittee couldnt agree on a level across the board so they decided to give me an L3 offer. they offered to do two more interviews to solidify my level (at either 3 or 4). they wont give feedback so i cant really know what to practice. any advice on how i can try to get 4? what are the differences? i really dont believe im a google 3... but need to prove that to HC...
4 yoe for L3 is BS
I would do the additional interviews and reevaluate. Sounds like you don’t need to make a decision yet.
Please do the additional interviews and get L4. Nothing to lose. Why regret later for not having tried?
Move on. There are companies out there that actually want you.
Even if you accept Google L3, and it's questionable, you should interview elsewhere for competing offers. L3 offers for experienced hires can go fairly high, but you need competing offers. Current TC doesn't count.
How high do L3 offers for experienced hires go?
Move on dude
Lowballed and downleveled = G. Yet, so many wants to join lol
It really depends on how you interview in my experience. If you kill the interview you’ll get correct level and high comp, if you’re great but not amazing you’ll get downleveled
Move on . What leverage do you have ? It would likely seem that you will do good at ms - so either you don’t like ms of you really want to leave
4 yoe at major company, moved 3 levels up at Microsoft, step away from being promoted to senior and being downleveled to L3, start with newgrads who may not even have had internship and were direct hired ... that's harsh. How are they going to match if TC at L3 is just 185k? Since you already spent time on interview preparation I would suggest to start interviewing aggressively with other companies. Having offer from G may help you to land better offers (negotiate higher TC) with other companies.
4 yoe. No offer details at google yet but Microsoft TC is 235. It’s high but from college new hire bonus. It’s going away next year.
What's your level at MS?
62, 6 Mo In level
