I got the initial quoted price from TrueCar app. Location in the Bay Area, CA. Dealer sent me this additional info. We have not negotiated yet: “The price includes some accessories like Cilajet Ceramic Coating, Protection Package, Low jack tracking device. All these accessories will cost you $6000 on the top of MSRP. Car will be available in September.” Personally, not in a hurry to buy the car. But I will need it in the beginning of 2023 because my spouse and I are expecting a baby - cannot afford to wait until the supply chain return to normal 😢. We are looking a larger car with a hatchback. I saw RAV4 as better alternative, but it is a highly sought car with less inventory. What do you guys think? I am a total beginner about purchasing new car. Any advice will be appreciated! TC: 200k
Op - Next gen CRV is just around the corner.. If you are going to overpay, why not get the latest gen.
Wouldn’t the newer 2023 model be overpriced even further? Also, would they even be more limited in terms of supply? Sorry I am a complete noob
6k for those few things is a rip off
Make a RAV4 order and in 3-4 months you will get your car.
Thank you! If we are ordering in advance, is it going to be first come first serve (based on waitlist)? And is it guaranteed to be matching the MSRP?
No, if you make an order you will get it. You can build a car what you exactly wants and wait for it. It requires 3-4 months time to put your order to factory, to build and ship a vehicle to dealer.
electric car to escape 7 dollar gas
😂 yes I heard the mpg efficiency does not really matter in the bay. So do you also think the gas model is better economicaly?
I pay 20 dollars a month in electricity home charging to drive 2000 miles a month in Tesla model y, also no oil change because no oil motor
I recently bought a car and learned many hard lessons. i am not expert however hopefully this advice can be helpful. The $6k charge is not for the extra features (they are definitely not worth even close to $6k), it's basically just a markup above the MSRP. All dealerships in Bay Area suck, look for dealerships within 2 hour radius outside Bay Area, you will find many of them do not charge above MSRP and you can get the car fast (within 1/2 to 1 month). This applies to only low-ish demand cars. For example 2022 Rav4 gas car is super easy to find if you call around multiple dealerships, check Stockton, Modesto, etc. Ask for "out the door price" -- a good dealership will say "we sell at MSRP, no markup or obligatory packages". (On the other hand, high demand cars like Hybrid rav4 is almost impossible to find, without like half year waiting time). How the process works, you just pay the deposit upfront (like $1k, usually it is refundable, but depends on dealership's policy), then after few weeks when the car arrives then you go pick it up. You can either take the train+Uber, or you just get a rental car and return in the destination city, or you can borrow a friend's car, it will cost under $200 and you will save several thousands compared to buying in Bay Area.
Get a model 3. Safer for you and your child with the safety features it provides.
Thank you! Do you think it still reasonable after the recent price increase? I saw that it is jacked up by at least $10k since last year Edit: this is OP with new username
It is a bit expensive may lease it
No Doubt Honda CR-V is a good car. But why go to the dealer who is making you buy sh*t for 6k? Just call dealers and find out which one is not charging more than MSRP. Don't restrict to one state. I bought a Kia in Jan 2022 at MSRP. I can tell you three Kia dealers who are still selling at MSRP. Just do more research. Sure it's gonna take effort but you will save $$$
drive out of town. find a dealer that doesn't charge above MSRP. Do not get ripped off with extra packages. Buy the 2023 model because it's a new generation of CR-V
MSRP typically does not include shipping which 1.5 - 2K, 6K is not normal so they are definitely reaching into your pockets and right in your face. The wait for a car was like 3 months last time I checked, so if you can wait that just put your order in and get what you actually need.
Thank you for your advice!
