My friend, Senior DS, got laid off from Amazon last month. He managed to get an offer from eBay for a DS MTS1 role. He has more on-sites over the next couple of weeks, but he wants to accept the offer and get out of the market asap. Is this is a good enough offer for the role? Level - MTS1 (Senior?) Base - 210k Equity - 52.5k per year Performance bonus -10-20% Joining bonus - 30k Refreshers guess - 20k per year (?) So TC is about 310k. His pre layoff TC was about 330k
That’s a solid offer - in this environment, he should take it. Wait out the storm and see what 2024 brings… worst case, he does well, gets refreshers, promoted and stays somewhere he is valued. Average tenure is like 20 years. That worst case isn’t that bad. 🤷♂️
Are you saying the high tenure is because eBay actually cares for its employees? That will be a massive shift for Ops friend coming from Amazon.
Definitely does, I moved from Amazon to eBay 2 years back. The company definitely has a great work environment, ofc there are things that need change, but overall, employees are not just considered robots here.
MTS1 refreshers are 50k+
50k vested in a year or over 4 years?
4
210k base eBay - Great offer.
Joining bonus could be better, one level below this my joining bonus was 55k. But still a good offer, and refreshers are more than 20k ( but that ofc depends a lot of company and your performance )
Is there some layoff talks at eBay? Me and some people i know interviewed with ebay and things suddenly seemed to be halted. For some manager wants to go ahead but no offer yet.
Mostly backfill roles. Layoffs were couple of months back.
The performance bonus cannot be 10-20%. It’s fixed either 10% or 15%. The RSU are way too high for MTS1 and would be an above average offer for MTS2.
Solid offer for mts1, take it
There is no such “a friend”
Did he take the offer or was able to negotiate more ?
Sounds like Mts-2 than 1. That’s a good offer for eBay standards
Thanks for the info. He was told that the offer was out of the range for MTS1. How is life and culture at eBay?
It’s team dependent but I like my team and work
