hi blind team, i have an onsite interview at ebay for software development engineer (new grad) role. can someone shed some lights on what can i expect? ps: this is one of my last opportunities as i have not been getting a lot of call and my ead clock is already ticking.
Each team has it’s own interviewing styles. Different teams might have different requirements. I like to talk about whatever you’ve done (even school project, if you have zero YoE), discussing architecture, design, scaling issue. Red flags would be around concurrency/threads, and complete inability to scale. But that’s just me - probably leetcoding would be beneficial for most of the interviews. Good luck.
All that for a new grad ? Seriously ?
You can always adjust these questions for the level of the candidate. For instance, if it is a new grad, we can discuss a solution that uses a local file system, and than ask how it would work when trying to deploy in multiple machines. For new grads I’d look for creativity and ability to think about something that will roughly work - not an optimal solution or industry standard, just an ability to adjust to new requirements on the fly.
hey did you give online assessment as well?
Yes, it was on codesignal. 4 questions
Hey congrats! May I know for which position you applied for and when? Cause I cant find any new grad positions online. Thanks!
