The official close should be any day now. IBM was light with details until now due to legal reasons so we don't know what the future will look like. I personally never applied to jobs at IBM as I envisioned them as an old tech company and they were known for being against remote work (pre-covid) which mattered to me among other stuff. So let's say I am not very eager. We didn't get any details on retention packages but we are being told not much will change for a long time and "business as usual"... Any IBMers here can share some tips on what we can expect post-close and how to survive at IBM? And as the song goes, Should I stay or should I go? YOE: 15 TC: 140k
You will be forced to wear blue overalls every day. It is important that you blend in with the rest of the smurfs.
Is IBM keeping Turbonomic separate like Red Hat? If they do then you will be fine staying.
So far the indication is that we will be doing our own thing for a while like RH
Time to run, bruh
yes, I am on it
I’m gonna hang on for a little bit and see how this shakes out, hopeful that some of our toxic leaders will see themselves out.
sadly, not going to happen, IBM is planning to retain many of the toxic leaders and let them continue doing their "thing"
hmm. would love your insight on this. I have several sure-fire offers I could pursue but if certain people are not gone, I don’t see enough opportunity to grow. DM me?
How has it been?
Have a couple IBMers in the family and wouldn’t recommend staying for too long. Highly bureaucratic, slow, and an overall not-cutting-edge company these days. Out of curiosity, when did you join Turbonomic and how much does one make off such an acquisition?
