i just received offer from facebook start date would be in janauary, found out already 4 weeks pregnant. If i join facebook i would need maternity leave after 7 months. Should i tell Hiring manager ? would it have bad impact on my performance review ? Really want to get out of Sap. thanks fb offer - 150k base
Don’t tell recruiter. Just start and then take leave when your baby is born. It shouldn’t impact performance - you’re in a protected class now per FB policy. Congrats!
I would let them know once you have signed your agreement and just say by the way I have just found out I am pregnant. If they are unwilling to accommodate or if this reflects poorly on you, then it shouldn’t be an org you want to work for anyways! But I hear their maternity/paternity leave is very flexible and accommodating so I wouldn’t stress about it!
Join Facebook and after joining, tell your manager. It’s absolutely fine.
This. Most people don’t say anything for 12+ weeks anyway just for personal/medical reasons.
I have seen cases where women have joined a company during pregnancy and they took maternity just 3 months after joining and manager didn’t take that in the negative way. Any of manager’s current women employee can get pregnant and will need to go on maternity leave, this he can’t control.
Just get out of SAP and stop wasting your time. Join Facebook, talk to the manager. The earlier you tell the more supportive they are
Tell the hiring manager. I promise you that won’t make a difference. The company does everything it can to make sure new moms get A1 treatment. From 4 months + 6 weeks leave, to mother rooms, to the ability to work from home to stay near your little one, you’ll be taken care of here.
I even have friends that interviewed whilst they were heavily pregnant, one of them had a start date that was 2 weeks before her due date, she worked for a week and started her maternity leave the 2nd week. No issues with manager/performance whatsoever. I’d say tell the manager whenever you are ready to. You will be fine.
Let them know after you get in; preferably during you first interview with your manager. The goal is to size projects/ramp up to the time you will be there. You don't want them to plan for training/deliverables during the time you have to be out. I took a leave 4 months after joining.
Within joining of 1.5 months I took paternity leave. Though slightly different but doable.
Congratulations!!! So happy for you. Join, then tell. Been there, done that. So much can happen between now and 9 months. They will be supportive. If you tell now, they might find an excuse (incl dummy background check) to not hire you. I doubt FB would ever do that but a very evil mind could do it behind FB's policy managers
