Starting with a bit of a background, I'm not into AI/ML as I consider them a bit more of mathematics than computer science. Now, if we leave apart AI/ML kind of stuff, what kind of interesting work does Google have that is not your every day protobuf-conversion-backend stuff but requires you to deal with traditional computer science knowledge like operating systems, networking, etc? Is work in teams like Borg, Spanner, etc good by these metrics? Or are there any other good teams which satisfy the above criterion? PS: Before anyone asks TC ~45k USD in India, 1.5 YoE

The interesting work comes as you rise above in the ranks. That's when you get to play the game of thrones. Untill then you are just an unsullied.
What I've seen is that most teams are a mix of L3s, L4s and L5s. L3s being the most in number. Makes me believe it's easier to move around as an unsullied L3.
