Should I worry about it to put millions of assets in single brokerage account like vanguard? Don’t feel like to manage multiple brokerage accounts. But SIPC has limits :)
No point in worrying. If one of the big brokerages like Vanguard/Fidelity/Schwab go bankrupt getting your $1M back will be the least of your problems Also you can buy t-bills and increase your SIPC protection since they’re assets and not cash
You never put all your eggs in one basket. I have divided it in all five. Fidelity, Schwab, vanguard , Robinhood, and etrade.
Yep, I have mine split up such that securities are under 500k per account. Most brokerages have additional insurance too. Don't get beaten up about it too much, if vanguard goes under I would say we have bigger problems.
As long as it’s not robinhood - it’s fine. Usually chase and others offer higher privileges with high value. They will give you a single point of contact for your needs etc.
If Vanguard goes under, all your assets will be worthless even if you spread across multiple brokerages.
