Amazon Leadership Principles

Have my onsite in 3 days and didn't start LP yet. I'm looking to postpone my interview by a week. I'm looking for some help on leadership principles. How do I write my stories? I know the STAR pattern, but the LP principles are very tricky LOL. #amazon #tech

Prepare star stories, mention the LP if any and let chatgpt do the work in relating them

Nowadays ChatGPT/Gemini/Copilot are your friends 😉 When I was preparing for the interview those weren't around, so I've written 2 stories for each LP.

I've heard that they dig deep into LPs and the HIRE decision is mostly dependent on LP's. Any tips on how I can frame my stories and respond to the follow ups?

I've done many interviews and depends on what position and level. You don't go as deep for L4 interview than you go for L5. For every LP you need to have story which cover nature of it, i.e. Customer Obsession frame is how you helped customer above and beyond and follow will be questions about it from different angle such as would you do it differently if you were in same situation now, etc

Good interview prep focused on the behavioral interview frameworks used at Amazon I found incredibly helpful - https://a.co/d/bVj6QNe

Depends on your yoe. If less than 3, just cancel your interview. Otherwise, go here https://www.amazon.jobs/content/en/our-workplace/leadership-principles, and match each LP with your past experience. If you can't find any past experience, than you're not a leader and you should be aiming at companies like MSFT and GOOG. If you still manage to get into AMZN, you will be probably pip'd within 6 months.

lol, i've 3+ YOE, and i've worked as a sde 2 at unicorn startup. do u think that'd suffice?

That depends on your experience. Did you drive some initiative? Did you take ownership of something relevant? Were you a leader or a follower? Did you work on project with a measurable impact on your customers? What was your role? Your contribution? How to measure it? If you can answer those questions without making up stories, then you're a probable match.
