Have AMZN offer, contacted by FB recruiter- how to proceed?

Currently, an MBA student with signed offer from Amazon. Was contacted by FB recruiter, presumably for a job in NYC, a city which I would greatly prefer over Seattle. Should I a) be upfront with the recruiter about my current offer and hope to reconnect in the future Or b) act like I don’t have an offer and go through with interview process Also would like to know how harshly Amazon penalizes for reneging- do they even have a tracking system and how would they link my future applications? Obviously (a) is the ethical thing to do, but say I go through the interview prices, get the offer, and turn it down. Would I be less on the recruiters radar than if I were to tell them “hey sorry, can’t work for you right now.”

FB has a Seattle office too... Tell them you got an offer from amazon already and want to expedite the process with FB. Even you reject them they will keep coming back. No worries.

Thanks, should have clarified but I’ve already signed with Amazon

Means s***! I say go through FB interview.

The recruiter will wait. Tell them you have another offer you are waiting to imminently come in. They could counter but they will not revoke the offer

Did you already accept Amazon? ( Regardless, interview with FB and tell them about the Amazon offer and the fact that they need to move fast) I got my Facebook offer in about a week.

Yes, already accepted Amazon. Would FB still be willing to move forward I knowing I’ve accepted?

Just don't tell them

Bend the truth here a bit. Tell Amazon that you're currently interviewing with another company and that you'd like wait until you know what all your options are. Tell fb that you have an offer on the table so that they know to speed you through the interview process.

Already accepted Amazon unfortunately. I would prefer FB NYC, but not at the cost of getting blacklisted by Amazon

Why do you want to work for Amazon, ever? Definitely go through with other interviews....

You don’t have to tell FB anything. Just go with the process and choose whatever makes more sense in the end.

do fb. if you get offer from fb and want to honor amazon you can see how you like seattle and amazon and if not great take up fb offer in a few months.. assuming you don't want to prep and do Interviews after few months if you hate amazon. only reason to not do fb would be lack of time, energy or passion for fb

There is very little to do with ethics here. You have your own interests to serve and you shouldn't just fold because you have an offer. Companies don't own you, even if you work for them. The amzn recruiter wants their bonus, they want you to sign and probably start asap. They might put extra pressure on you to accept the offer before you are ready to do so. My advice would to explain to the Facebook recruiter that you have an offer from amzn and you are very interested in exploring what working at Facebook could be like. Hopefully this will speed up your facebook process and you'll have two offers to consider rather than one.

just read that you've already accepted. For companies of this scale, doesn't mean that much. If it was a smaller outfit, you'd be burning bridges in most cases

Keep in mind that Facebook will pay same in SEA as Bay or NYC. Almost certainly you'll make more money at Facebook in absolute and adjusted to COL terms... if that matters to you.

You said it all: ethical thing is a. Decide if ethics matter to you or not.

Amazon xEon51 Jan 31, 2018

Ethics? It's at will employment. Did bringing up ethics help when you are put on pip?

Just go for FB. Hard lesson you will learn sometime - ethics don't mean shit in the world of business. If you want to work on ethics projects, go work for non profit.
