1. Lead Architect: -Wells Fargo - Relocation to Charlotte (Charlotte's cost of living is 10% more than where I live now) - 175k (base) + 15% (variable bonus) = 200k 2. Senior Manager, Engineering (I think it's more like Sr. TPM role) - Elevance Health (formerly Anthem) - Work from Home (currently at LoCol) - 160k (base) + 10k (joining bonus) + 18% (variable bonus) + 5k (equity) = 203.8k Current TC - 170k Current role - Lead Engineer (2-3 days in office) **My career goal is to be a Director of engineering leading teams in a technical capacity. Which role will carve a path for the same, while I also learn valuable skills along the way? #elevancehealth #wellsfargo #tech #architect #tpm
I wouldn't count the joining bonus as part of TC since it impacts only the first year
If your goal is “**My career goal is to be a Director of engineering leading teams in a technical capacity. Which role will carve a path for the same, while I also learn valuable skills along the “ — Lead Architect / Wells Fargo seems better aligned. Banks are going through a lot tech stack modernization nut limited to cloud migration.. the other roles seems execution heavy and aligning towards TPMing .. +1 don’t count joining bonus in comp
Why Architect role is more aligned with Dir, Eng role? would there be any transferrable skills from SrTPM to Dir, Eng?
Because if you’re going to eventually manage a large technical org, you want a strong technical background. People shouldn’t go into management too early in their careers.
Yoe?
Do you think you could be happy living in Charlotte? COL aside.
define 'happy living'
When did you get these offers? And what is the location of the second offer
recently. wfh@locol
Choose the one that is flatter in org structure. More the layers more time to reach to your goal unless you wanna cash out your title in couple of years
