id like to short a companies stock but theres an issue of insider trading if you do it within some time window. cisco is going π and id like to short them. how long after i leave the company can i start shorting them without getting in trouble?
Why do u think Cisco going down? How do you know?
Insider Trading much?
I know a short squeeze when I see one. Still working at Cisco? Sharing that they will short Cisco? Hmmmmmm
OP, is Cisco going down soon, what's the reason? When is a good time sell? Spill the beans please π
As per the usual rules, you need to wait for next trading window to open. Once it opens, it never closes for you. If you leave in the time that the trading window is already open, then you are off the hook from day one.
You can't use material non public info to trade. There isn't a time window involved. You can safely short the company while still an employee if you don't have material non public information. If you did, your compliance group has probably already made you sign something. You may be violating a company policy, but you won't be breaking the law.
Or maybe OP is playing the long con by starting a short scale sell panic and purchase it with and sell it with profit once that tiny little drop bounces back
Do you have material info that has not been disclosed yet? If not go for it.
I still work here though
You would be restricted only if you know something material.
