my last role (first job out of college) was 9 months and i’m starting a new one next week…. curious how long y’all think i should stay at this one? the salary is pretty low (105k) so i’m still interviewing. i kind of need the money now so i went ahead and accepted this role but curious how long i should stay here without coming off as a job hopper edit: forgot to add that i took a 6 month break after my first job that i quit due to a family health issue
If the tenure is short enough, just don't list this role in your resume. Otherwise I'd aim for 2 years, since you are early career and your first stint was short enough it could look like you had performance issues.
Try to focus on being promoted at your new job. That will help accelerate your career and also show you’re a top performer and it wasn’t short due to performance issues. Job hopping early in career isn’t as frowned upon but it’s also annoying AF to have to explain to every recruiter for the next 10 years why it was such a short tenure. Congrats on the new role!
2-3 years unless you get promoted then I think you can hop earlier
