Does Facebook continue to be preferred social-network for everyone as it used to be 6 years back? To me it seems that the gen-z is more attracted towards instagram and snap compared to facebook. If that is true, what is Facebook target customer base and where do you think it will plan to capitalise to get back its crazy growth that we saw in yesteryears and not depend solely on acquisitions of successful products like instagram or whatsapp? tc - 250k 7 yoe
Facebook owns instagram though
That will definitely save it then
Bulk of facebooks revenue still comes from the main facebook app. I think they’ll be fine but don’t see them getting to the 1 trillion club anytime soon. Growth will be around 15-20% from here on, which still isn’t terrible. They still have to monetize WhatsApp and messenger in a meaningful way but the true gem is Instagram. Can’t make a call on oculus yet but portal doesn’t look to be a hit.
They sell every Portal they make. Not sure if that is considered a hit or not but they are exceeding their internal expectations by a big margin.
Hard to tell without knowing actual numbers. If they only make 1000 portals a month, not too difficult to sell them all.
We are going after Amazon, watch out, next time the question would be ‘is amazon dying’
It's not dying, but the growth is slowing. But they own a lot of big IP like Insta, WhatsApp, and Occulus.
Fb is here to stay if not for all the narcissistic folks out there.
I only use facebook to find apartments and use it to log in to certain websites because I’m too lazy to create an account. Other than that, facebook would’ve been deleted long ago. Instagram is still somewhat cool though, but barely.
Use craigslist for apartment search. it’s better anyway. Kudos to CL for managing a perfectly working service for many years without being obsessed with growth at any cost.
Finding apartment on FB is a much better experience though. So easy to see profiles of your new roommates if you are going to share a room or even just verify the posting is not fake. CL is flooded with fake postings.
FB owns IG and will prob buy other other shit as it comes up, it ain't going nowhere
For good or for worse, I am buying FB stock :-) I hope it does not die.
People still use instagram and snap? All I hear is tiktok and it is more noticeable. Using FB for 20 minutes per day still counts as using it, there are enough people like this.
Tik Tok isn’t a social app really, it doesn’t have a social graph so it’s hard to do things like messaging on it
It is dying young people dont use it all
