my parents can't really send money to me like before. i am yet to balance my tuition for this time. and i just can't get an on-campus job. i am thinking of finding a paid sales or customer support remote jobs outside u.s. my skills are in IT, Security, and Networks. is it illegal if i find a job online?
Yes, illegal.
Even though the job isn't in America.
Yes, illegal.
Itâs illegal , on your 1040, you are required to report all income sources .. also there is FATCA regulation in effect
You will always have a paper trail of fund deposits to your offshore account .. you are looking for a trouble if you donât declare.. itâs another thing If itâs passive income like rental income
I wouldnât worry about it. You are good
Only illegal if the government finds out đ
Talk to lawyer
Even if itâs a non us company, if youâre living in the us and getting paid for it, itâs a visa violation.
Consult a lawyer. But one way to keep your hands clean and afford your tuition is to take up the job but have them pay your parents or sibling or friend. Essentially avoid getting paid in your name, and have your parents continue to send you money as a gift. As long as you do not have a balance greater than $10K or any transfer greater than $10K, you arenât likely to get flagged. Consult a lawyer and evaluate the risks before you make a move

Should I keep my Eagle Scout award on my resume?
Not sure about the legality of it but it will be almost impossible to track if you use a bank account outside US for parking that extra cash.
Ever heard of FATCA regulation?
I am not sure if FATCA applies for non-immigrant visas. It applies to H1Bs, because H1Bs are expected to apply for citizenship down the line, but it makes no sense that Uncle Sam would want to tax your foreign income on F1. Also, OP is most likely doing taxes as non-resident which means only US income is taxable. OP, you should post on Trackitt section on "ask a lawyer".
