Crossed a line with my boss
Indian currently living in Japan. I want to move to the US for making more money. Is it worth it to waste 1 year for ms? I am a decent competitive programmer so cracking interviews in the US won't be a problem after MS. TC: 14.5M yen (110k USD) College: tier-3 Age: 26 #engineering #indiasalary #india #google #faang #tech #amazon #meta

Worth it for money, not so for peace of mind.
What peace of mind op got in 🇯🇵?
@decay-bose not worrying about finding a job in 60 days after layoffs seem like a good one.
MS is usually 2 years unless you are dong it online. Why do you say waste?
I think thinking about education as a waste of time is enough information about op. People like op come to USA, regret it and never really try to assimilate even a little bit and give all immigrants a bad name
@atlassian why are you so bitter?
The investment is 220k USD + tuition
upgrad is offering a program which is like 26 lacs tuition fee in total plus living expenses. https://www.upgradabroad.com/
Only if you don't quit your current job 😉
By more money do you mean absolute value of converted dollar amount or more after PPP conversion? Are you looking for a better life than Japan, do you see fewer visa issues here? Hope you have carefully evaluated.
Best to come here on a L1 and transfer to a H1B. Masters in the states is expensive.

L1 + EB1C combo is something which even PhDs from Caltech couldn't crack
Is 110k enough to live a good life in Japan? In Bay Area, even people making 150k are considered middle class
150k hardly counts as middle class.
yeah, it's good enough for a single guy.
Big No
No. Don't fall into the trap immigration is a mess here.
No matter how much you will put this disclaimer, our countrymen and women will flock to the USA.
True. Just doing my part here 🙃
Do you enjoy it in Japan? One thing is for sure, you will never be accepted in Japan like you will be in the US. Probably worth it just for that alone. But there's more to it than just this.
Don't agree with this cultural myth. No one will accept you outside your country. Is all BS! US or Japan is just business. Decision should be based on what you get more out of either.
Lol what. Being accepted in a country as an immigrant is a scale. Brown skinned children raised in Japan will never be called Japanese by locals.
