Hi Uber folks, is Freight worth joining now given a l5 offer with 350k? @uber
Absolutely not. Stay far away from this shithole company. More adjustments are coming later this year. Also, in the recent storm lot of new hires (3-6 months tenure) canned. Company is in full cost cutting mode.
Cannot really say that. If that is the case then people would have shorted it and made tons of money. I would say there is potential to go back to 50 or even more while there is risk for sure to tank lower to 20. I am trying to understand the potential of Freight business as well as the impact I can make there and evaluate whether it's worth the risk to take it
Cruise that's not how market sentiment works. If the market on average sincerely thought Uber would should be 5-10 in a few months, it would already be near that now. All institutional investors believe in the efficient market hypothesis to some degree
Is that 350k in the Chicago office?
No, in SF
Freight is a quickly growing business that may be Uber’s AWS. If you believe in the quality of our leadership team and the long term vision (transportation platform idea), then join Uber. Some employees like those who commented above have low morale due to this week’s layoffs. Some employees have morale which fluctuates according to the stock price. If you don’t have the stomach to join an unprofitable company, then don’t do it. Also about the layoffs, employees affected have 3 weeks to re-apply to internal positions. It’s a little tight, but if they do, their stock continues vesting as if they were never laid off.
I should add to this, the core rides business is close to being profitable (if not already so). It’s the other lines of businesses which need growth and investment.
Your data is a few years out of date @Cruise.
Of course not.
Why leaving fb?
Stay the fuck away. Or discount rsu values as you'll be a prime target for getting canned before they vest 😘
How much of that is in RSUs ?
Hype for freight is kind of overblown IMO. Also keep in mind the vocal minority on blind is overwhelming negative. Morale isn’t good by any means but the people here make it seem like Uber is equivalent to working at initech.
Yeah good point that blind is normally more negative, but still useful. I actually asked several friends at Uber before and felt they were a bit too optimistic overall, so trying to get some other thoughts from blind
are u e5 at fb? your tc there should beat this
