I just had an expensive buisness trip 2 weeks ago and I got a better offer and leaving now. I also never complained in 1:1s, am I burning the bridge? Yoe:2 Tc: 🥜🥜
Burning bridges is a series of decisions outside accepting a better position. Godspeed!
Do you think companies, execs or managers worry about burning bridges when it comes time to do layoffs?
Transition your work and leave like a pro, that's all you can do. There is nothing wrong with taking a better opportunity.
Expensive to MSFT, like $10 Million?? Anything under that is chump change for my boy Natya Sundella
This is not burning a bridge
So you went on a trip to do the work you are paid to do and then are leaving the company? No offense but this is a stupid question.
Lol, I have seen people being layoff by employers during the business trip, so I think there's no harm in this . Go for it.
My exact thoughts. These companies can lay you off with no notice in the blink of an eye. Be selfish and evaluate all options before making the move
No just don’t be a dick. Don’t tell your manager where you’re going when they ask
Why not tell your manager?
Maybe it’s fine to tell them if you have an especially good relationship but otherwise it’s risky since you never know if they’ll try to sabotage you by reaching out your new company and talking shit about you. Think about it, if you don’t want to lose a good employee and you’re a sociopath, what would you do?
What’s the better offer numbers?
You have to do what’s best for you always. Do not pass up opportunities out of guilt. Burning bridges is relative to who it’s to. Some will understand and some won’t. Forget about the ones that won’t. People who shy away from every opportunity early in their career stunt their growth. I have done this many times and I assure you it has not affected me one bit.
