I got a verbal confirmation for an offer on a large Tech company (not-FAANG) and want to overlap with my current job for a few weeks to test the waters give the current job market (layoffs, offers rescinded, etc.) for 2-5 weeks. My plan is take 2 weeks PTO for my first 2 weeks and then put my 2-week notice as soon as I come back for a total of 4-5 weeks. Both companies operate in similar industries so there is a slight chance that i'll be asked to leave immediately, though they are not direct competitors. Anything I should be careful for? Have you heard of companies asking for proof of resignation? This a large public company... I am a US Citizen so Visa is not an issue #tech #offer #overemployed
Conflict of interest… same industry? Seems like big issues right there.
not necessarily, new company is fintech old company is a big bank... so not really competitors... depending on how you see it.
Lawyers will see it differently. Why risk a new job you have barely started.
Smells like a legal exposure
shit... thanks for opening my eyes lol i was 100% sure on doing this and now I am really second guessing it...
As long as you don't tell anyone you should be good. But the risks are already above if someone finds out. Regarding conflict in the dates, everything is fine in long term
Overlapping by 4 weeks is a bad idea. Your velocity will be poor at your new job where you’ll want to impress. If you fully commit to your new job, then you’ll be checked out at your old job when people will be asking you knowledge transfer questions. And if you try to do both, you’ll burn out.
If you do this don’t tell a soul. You are likely in breach of your contract working two jobs
old company has no moonlighting policy... its discretionary... i looked for it extensively lol new one might have...
