Hi, everyone I have an interview coming up for Paypal Java engineer role. I have a karat interview scheduled .Any inputs on what to expect for this ? TC - 0 ( got laid off recently) #paypal #interview #karat #layoff #engineering
Waste of time , some leetcode medium question and the recruiter did not respond back at all after completion.
Any idea on what type of question. Recruiter mentioned some technical discussion followed by a coding part.
This happened with me too. Passed Karat, as confirmed by recruiter and had the virtual loop prep call with recruiter. After that recruiter has ghosted and haven't received any virtual meeting invite.
an Indian interviewer taking interview at night
No, an Indian in Canada taking the interview during the day.
At least we both agree he will be an indian🤣
Karat is useless and waste of time, you will be satisfied that you did really well on easy LC problems, interviewer will say you did well and you will get rejection email
Yeah I see they have pretty bad rep. Unfortunately that’s the only option I have according to the recruiter. So have to attempt it.
i interviewed at 3-4 companies that used karat for the initial technical phone screen. I interviewed for staff/lead engineer roles. Format is - 10-15 rapid fire questions and then followed by a coding exercise. starts off simple but there'll be several layers, oftentimes these are extensions to the same problem. some companies expect you to solve at least 2 variants and a few companies expect you to finish all 4. Robinhood was one such company. best part - you can schedule interviews on weekends and you can redo if you feel you didnt do well. no questions asked. good luck.
Thank you so much that’s really helpful. On the 10-15 questions are these like basic CS questions ?
yes. things like time and space complexity for common data structures, system design things like scenarios where you'd prefer eventual consistency over strong consistency, what are the tradeoffs etc.
Awful experience, if possible push for technical phone screen with someone actually working at paypal!
