25%(40) of people were elimiated, and the severance package is 1 month base salary.
That’s sad. The company had potential. Hope the guys who got the pink slip would end up somewhere soon.
Sorry to hear but I can’t understand how a b2b SaaS company that has raised $100m in a matter of couple of years has to lay-off a quarter of its employees within weeks of something like this. Seems like folks using covid as an excuse for their bad management and execution leading to firing that can be masked as “ times are tough”
Seeing less than 20% and mostly sales people
Not true
Many engineers were laid off along with a handful of others from every department
Ironically that’s exactly what their product is used for, it tells you which sales is underperforming and you should fire
looks like it was 18% and the prospects are looking pretty good according to this https://techcrunch.com/2020/04/17/sales-startup-people-ai-lays-off-18-of-staff-raises-debt-round-amid-covid-19-uncertainty/

Interesting proposition but expensive and difficult to measure benefits...super long sales cycle...unlikely anyone will buy over the next 12-18 months.
Somehow Rubrik bought the software months after this post haha and a huge deal
The TechCrunch article is a misleading puff piece placed by mgmt. completely inconsistent with how they handled the lay-off and who they let go. Zero accountability for mgmt in the article.
The Techcrunch piece is based on the information received from the company management. It provides a lowered number, and doesn't mention how people were laid off at 10pm with a phone call, and received less than a month of pay and health insurance
Wow, this situation really brings out the worst in people.
Are they trying to one-up Bird?
