Trying to make a career pivot from consulting to PM. Was wondering if I should take a PM offer from Goldman for Marcus. Idea would be to work there for 2-3 years and try to pivot to an actual tech company. Would appreciate input.
KPMG -> Goldman is definitely an upgrade
No idea about what that role would be like. If it's a real PM role building consumer facing features then go for it. There are lots of FinTech companies you could easily join afterwards probably. The other route is joining a tech company in a non-PM role and then transferring which might have a lot more uncertainty. If the role is super back-endy then definitely think hard about it. Most companies even B2B are looking for PMs that have shipped customer-facing products.
