So just applying online gets an interview call? Isn't applying online similar to throwing the resume into a black hole, or is Netflix any different?
Online submissions are not a black hole.
Not particularly. I applied to jobs I thought I qualified for and that’s how I got in. Many others with similar stories. There’s is the chance you might not get a recruiter call but that’s cause they don’t think you’re a fit for the team you applied for. If you know an employee and can get them to give your a referral that’s great but applying gives you a good chance @kb7z
Be sure you know the culture deck, be familiar with the space and its competitors, and be ready to explain why you want to join Netflix and how you could contribute, especially the culture.
A tip I've heard is making sure your linked in includes keywords for the jobs you are gunning for-- a couple of people I know that ended up at Netflix said their recruiters are very active on LinkedIn and reached out to them vs through whatever black hole application portal. The two times I've been able to interview there I was able to get a personal intro to the hiring manager or recruiter, so tapping into your personal network is beneficial as well.
If you notice a Netflix recruiter looking at your LinkedIn after applying for the job, do you feel it would benefit you in any way to send them a message, to ask questions or ask for feedback? Or did that just make you look needy?
