Snap Stock Performance
How do you expect Snap’s stock to perform over the next two years? To me it seems like a no brainer “buy” but Wall Street seems to disagree...
Why would you think it's a buy? Do your friends still use it? Do you still recommend the app to people?
Stagnant / poorly. All the ‘coveted demo’ folks I know (18-35 middle/upper middle) have long-abandoned Snap for Insta. To me, Snapchat only seems have the exact same ‘unmonetizable’ demo that Vine was left with... I hate that Facebook only exists due to their successful IP theft (or ‘IP via acquisition’), but their version of Snap is better than Snap’s, so Facebook is going to win in the long run.
It’s not “IP via acquisition” they literally just infringed on our IP knowing we are not going to sue under any circumstance and even if we did it would only be a fine for them and years of legal costs and stagnation for us. It’s atrocious that it’s allowed and that the public gave them a pass. But we are still going to win. Just might take longer now. It’s also fun that everyone’s reason against snap is “anecdotally...” while there are public figures that show hundreds of millions of users.
I think my comment may have been poorly crafted, if you thought that I wasn’t accusing Facebook of stealing your IP. I was implying that Facebook acquires IP in one of two ways: 1) their preferred method is to just openly steal it (which is what they did to Snapchat) or 2) they acquire the company (Insta, WhatsApp, etc). I still disagree about Snap’s prognosis. The latest earnings call was all bad news... While I agree that my assertions about most revenue-generating users (US, Middle-upper class) leaving the platform are anecdotal, Snap understandably doesn’t release demo-specific stats, so anecdotal information is the best available. The valuable users that I know stopped posting stories to Snapchat months ago, but I see them all posting stories on Instagram/FB. Again, anecdotally, I’d estimate 75% of my Snap friends have moved to FB. I still enjoy Snapchat, I just don’t have high hopes for Snap, ever since Facebook stole your IP...
I would buy FB over Snap. Much safer bet in my opinion.
It’s super cheap, so I would take a small gamble on it. But I personally dislike the product, I don’t like how the company is run, and I don’t see the market being receptive to yet another advertising platform. I might very well be wrong.
It's not that cheap guys... I'd take fb over snap any day just because of Instagram and a much clearer business strategy for both increase in usage and monetization. Snap has no vision
Value, growth and momentum. Atleast look for two if you wanna make money in stocks.
