Shell cuts 9000 jobs.

Seems like both Exxon and Shell are not doing well..Hope y'all are okay. https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/30/business/shell-job-cuts/index.html

Already laid off people in Australia@Exxon. Now a bigger US wave is coming.....

ExxonMobil -. - Oct 1, 2020

Already laid off people in USA via PIP program. If employees less than 2 year, company just straight up told employees to not come in on Monday.

ExxonMobil xom-b Oct 1, 2020

O&G hasn’t been okay for a while now.

Slb has cut 20K+ by now 🙃

Shell vfg34 Oct 1, 2020

Ok so far. Will know by late December. We are supposed to reapply for our jobs in March 2021. I have been planning to move on, so might be the right time.

Proofpoint qFFV03 Oct 13, 2020

So they're laying people off and hoping they sit around for the opportunity to reapply?

Shell vfg34 Oct 13, 2020

Its a little odd, but low performers like me are hoping for the a severance package. So its either jump ship now, find something else and also risk getting laid odd, or just wait to see what Shell offers if there are layoffs. Also, Shell in Houston is like Google or FB in Cali. Dont want to leave a prestigious company without hope.

ExxonMobil inGB15 Oct 1, 2020

Doing ok here. Let’s wait and see what opportunities develop in the next few months.

Oil is going the way of US coal and steel stocks. Those were hot just a decade or two ago. XOM looks like a it's tripling down as a oil and gas pure play where as its competitors are diversifying. Let's see how this will play out.

ExxonMobil -. - Oct 1, 2020

Only European competitors are diversifying, likely due to pressure from European politics and public pressure. O&G will be here for a lot longer than people are thinking it will.

CVX is completing its last round of layoffs this/next month, total cut is around 10-15%

ExxonMobil -. - Oct 1, 2020

"last round" that they are publically announcing. Exxon is soon to be finishing its "first round"of 8% layoffs (aka people let go through 3mo PIP program to avoid severance)

ExxonMobil kerhS .rD Oct 1, 2020

A good amount of people who weren't PIPd are just quitting/moving companies too. A lot of dissatisfaction with how the company has been handling recent issues.

Chevron PkJe92711 Oct 1, 2020

Pretty much where I'm at, just ready to raise my hand and go

ExxonMobil Mzvz78 Oct 1, 2020

I'm still really new to Exxon and with as much as I want to get away from this company and Texas in general, I need more experience so I dont end up in another entry level position.

Shell TNxI17 Oct 1, 2020

Shell is dead. The new org chart was proof enough. So many meaningless titles for VP and creation of senior VPship. It's more of the same

Shell iBiF85 Oct 3, 2020

Really ? I am on a vacation and not looking at emails

Baker Hughes TRWIH2020 Oct 3, 2020

YIKES! 😬
