Hi, received a shocker email saying that Amazon has paused PERM processing for 2024. In my situation, my PD is already approved from previous employer but Amazon restarted my perm when I joined the company a year back. Currently, I am waiting on job classification from DOL after which the Amazon will apply for my perm. Has anyone gone through this before at Amazon or anywhere else? What are the implications? My visa expires next year. #workvisa #perm #amazon
Ah so more layoffs coming…
Honestly, You are not in bad position with one i140 already approved.
Awesome, why they are sponsoring gc
Why not
You need to be illigala. That is 'premium' processing with no rejection. Just be illegala.
It's so difficult to understand what you have written, and we are many levels from understanding how you even think and decide to write such ignorant, hateful ideas. Maybe some AI some day can do it.
Clearly, you are illigala.
are you from India ? If so I wouldn’t care, you’ll never get a GC anyway so continue extending your h1b.
Do we need perm if we have eb2 niw i140 if I switch jobs?
No
It’s not just Amazon , it’s a DOL/USCIS mandate that companies can’t process perm for 6 months after a RIF (for similar roles impacted) And usually the official termination happens 3-4 months after the RIF. If you have presence in the EU it might be even longer. This will prevent companies from processing PERM for the next 9-10 months after a RIF. In your case, by PD, if you meant Prevailing Wage Determination (PWD) , it’s not for you in person, but the role; and will not alter this policy. If you don’t have an i140 from a prior employer, i strongly recommend you to talk to an immigration attorney!
The termination needs to happen in the US for DOL to bother. They don’t care if the company lays off in any other country as long as US based employees are not laid off. So that is not a consideration.
Correct - but the immigration departments keep a blanketed block to stay on the safer side ( at-least my company do :( ) Hence my comment…
TC or gtfo
How is TC relevant here you moron
😂
If you already have i140 from previous. You should not care much. Anyways it won't be current for 50 years if India
No implications afaik. Use the previous i140 to extend your H1B
This. If you’re Indian / Chinese with a PD nowhere close to being current there shouldn’t be an issue. Since you only mentioned an old i140 filing, think you fit in one of those categories anyways. Folks with current PD don’t usually get stuck with just an approved i140.
Thanks @RIV007 and @99cents! It's temporary relief to know that I can keep extending H1B based on my previous I-140. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!
