This is the saddest thing I have read in a long time.

The CEO sucksss!!! Where's empathy and culture? I'm not buying stuff from Wayfair anymore

MassMutual CarFan Jan 25

The same CEO who told everyone to work long hours while he was on vacation https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2023/12/22/wayfair-ceo-niraj-shah-email-work-longer-hours/72010867007/

I understand corporations do what corporations are supposed to do, but laying off pregnant women, cancer patients, etc, seems to be a new low. In the US, with employment based healthcare, this seems to be crying for a new regulation.

Amazon BmJO14 Jan 25

So only healthy male breadwinners should get the axe? That sounds discriminatory.

Google OrangeGod Jan 25

Are you one of those who cries discrimination when maternity leaves end up being greater than paternity?

MRM TWG_202023 Jan 25

A terrible company does terrible things. What else would you expect from a terrible company like Wayfair?

Autodesk yolo_gainz Jan 25

It’s not just Wayfair, it’s all companies.

This is the first I’ve heard of canning a stage 4 cancer patient actively receiving chemo. This is the lowest level of Dante’s inferno.

Reverse discrimination is discrimination

Investment Bank Glinda Jan 25

It was in my LinkedIn feed, so sad, but unfortunately, not unusual. If you looked at the poster's stats, she lives in Canada so at least will not be bankrupted due to healthcare costs although she will lose the additional health insurance that comes from her company.

Stanley Black & Decker wfhlove67 OP Jan 25

I don’t think you read the entire post. She lives in Seattle & paying out of pocket for her care because Canadian doctors gave up on her!t That fkng country Canada is the worst!

Databricks data4u Jan 25

So what’s the solution? Universal Health Care doesn’t cut apparently. And healthcare tied to employment is a pain point as well. If your only solution is “companies should not layoff sick people” that is way too open ended and discriminatory as well.

Boycott wayfair products! Such ceos should suffer

Wayfair ogsk83 Jan 27

I am doing that and have spread the word to everybody I can while still employed by this deeply dysfunctional company. It's not difficult; Wayfair products are overpriced and now that we have invited every crappy Chinese manufacturer to sell their fake wood products on the site, they are also garbage as well. Wayfair will not notice, but I sleep at night and that's what matters.

Maado saale ceo ko

Amazon lbwnwdidsk Jan 25

Barring any shady stuff, she should still get paid from the disability insurance company. Typically on disability, you are already off the company’s payroll. So laying her off won’t impact the balance sheet. Not a smart PR move by the CEO. Usually companies will wait for disabled employees to come back to work and then fire them.

Stanley Black & Decker wfhlove67 OP Jan 25

I suggest you read the post, really take fucking 5 mins

Amazon lbwnwdidsk Jan 25

I did read the post?? I’m answering her biggest question. > HR did not have the answer to my most pressing concern - what would happen to my disability 🤦‍♂️
