I'm confused that should i move to booking amsterdam or stay in amazon for 8 moths and go USA with internal transfer and then GTFO. booking tc 136k,. expected saving 66k Current tc 59k , saving 39k . (All values in usd) Since salary growth will not be good in Europe but If I stay 8 more month in amazon and then transfer to USA, doing the job switch there would not better saving wise compared to europe. booking don't have tech office in usa, so if I have to go usa , have to make a job switch next year and then ideally wait 1 year more for internal as getting H1B directly has very low possibility. Please do comment also why if possible , thanks in advance . #tech #career #moneylion #booking #misc YOE 4.5 SDE2 india
Hey can you reframe the entire text. As this doesn't make much sense. A bit more clarity is appreciated.
Thanks, you helped, some words got swapped
Can you also give the currency, are all in usd is some in usd and some in euro. That would be great as well. Anyways, your TC and savings will grow by quite a margin this year so take that into consideration as well.
@amazon01 I'm confused, some posts says they'll be effective from 2023, not this April.
Hey OP so has your L1 or H1B process already started in Amazon? Or it's going to start after next 8months? If it's the later, it will take even more time to shift to US. If the process is started, I would suggest to wait and move to US internally as it will eventually add up to more savings as I see, savings is a major factor for u. Also could you please tell me how were the rounds for Booking? Can I DM you?
Booking rounds were quite easy , 1 coding interview (easily solvable) , 1 system design ( designing a feature of booking), HM. the hr tell you details of interview in mail about complete timeline of 1 hr . which actually awesome.
Is Amazon treating offshore offices as a way to hire people in US? Anyway these transfers can be impacted by company policy anytime. Unless you value a move to US, better to grow TC on Europe. How easy is it for European to get working Visa in US? If that's easy, you should look at high TC and still move to US when possible. If getting a Visa is hard then it makes sense to wait for Amazon transfer.
its pretty easy to go us by amazon internal transfer on L1 visa and also same time , amazon do apply for H1B also. I'm Indian , not European . just thinking that I can get better saving in USA if i move there than europe with same lifestyle, even recovering this current dip I'm taking with job switch . ( i don't have preference is us and europe , only saving part is the factor for now )
If you want to chill out, roam around, no work pressure, decent learning, good quality of life, then Booking is a good option. Salary is one among the top in Europe, but you can’t compare with US or UK. Clear path for PR and citizenship. After work, you will have lot of time. Buying home in Amsterdam is relatively easy as you can get 100% loan from the bank. So you don’t need to spend your money for rent, you can sell when you move back. Whereas, booking is not a tech company. Salary is not even close to US. Indian community is good there. Better Indian food. Lot of opportunities. I can easily save €50K per year after all my expenses. I am travelling to India two times a year with a family of two.
Hey, can you also add the yoe and the level for better insights?
+1
that makes sense
Hi OP, what were your onsite coding and system design interviews like at Booking?
YoE?
