Why Worshipping Lord Ram Important in Hinduism?
Came across a role with John Deere that interests me. I am not sure how it is as an employer? Glassdoor has mixed reviews. anyone has any idea about the company? tc-120k
One of my friends in Iowa loves the company.
Read the book The Power of Moments... That company was case studied for one of the topics... Pretty good company
Thank you for suggestion. How did you made it to the Netflix man :)
Deere is a pretty solid company and had some really good engineers - I used to work with mostly engine/after-treatment/exhaust guys, but they knew there stuff and were easy to work with. Not sure about the IT/Tech side though. You should consider the location though - if you are already in the Midwest, then it won't be much of a change, but if you are moving from the coasts, then Iowa living/working in Iowa could take some getting used to.
Totally agree on relocation part.
Thank you guys for your comments and suggestions. It’s helpful for sure.
I've been in IT/software at Deere over a decade, seen much of the company. Feel free to reach out with questions.
Thank you. Do you mind if I DM you?
Also been at Deere in IT space for several years now, anything in particular you have questions about?
Thank you. Any idea about compensation and role mapping?
Glassdoor has fairly accurate salaries if you can find the job title there
Pay is not great, hours on my team are also pretty bad? Some teams seem to get away with a cool 9 to 5 or 10 to 6 but my manager gets irate if we aren't up by like 7AM to talk and there's no leaving until at least 4:30PM. I was told I'd be working in Go, Python, and React to redo some product after they terminated a role in robotics for Blue River Technologies I was interviewing for. Didn't make sense to me but I'd just been laid off so I couldn't complain, but anyway I wound up basically being a Spring Boot Monkey with a bunch of staffing firm hires. Lots of spaghetti code and contracted code that breaks and has no documentation. And holy f*** are the work locations boring. But there are perks. Life is slow so you're never under that much pressure. Lots of different diverse teams you could choose to work with. The teams at least try to keep with modern technology.
Thank you so much for your honest opinion!!
Great WLB and compensation. John Deere will pay for any training you might need too so you can keep growing.
Only press I've heard about them is the DRM-ish policies they enforce on their tractors software. Bad press, but _should_ mean there is some secret sauce that is worth protecting. And probably interesting to work on.
