Does anyone still use Ruby on Rails for new projects / is it dead? Tc 180k (and falling with twilios stock)
Itās off the rails, for sure.
What replaced it?
Companies using RoR in production: Airbnb, Crunchbase, Square, Bloomberg, Fiverr, Zendesk, SoundCloud, Groupon, Couchsurfing, Kickstarter, MyFitnessPal, Shopify, GitHub, Hulu/Disneyā¦ are the few that I know
And Stripe sadly
Sadly? There would be no stripe without rails. You should thank DHH.
Cloud server less killed Django/rails
Try elixir next time instead of ruby
Nope, not dead. If you are looking for a new role with RoR DM me.
Itās not dead. Weāre successfully using it across a bunch of microservices. Looking to hire another engineer in the US (remote). DM for a referral.
Most of the tech listed in this thread is thriving, rails included. It was the most in demand framework last year according to hired. https://pages.hired.email/rs/289-SIY-439/images/Hired_2023%20State%20of%20Software%20Engineers.pdf
