school district in and around bay area.
how is the school district in plesanton/ dublin and south san jose ? how much does private schools cost in the area ? also are private schools better than public schools ?
In the south besides Los Gatos, only Evergreen and Almaden Valley has top ratings for schools. Christian private school like Valley Christians, Stratford and Challengers are the best in San Jose.
Stratford and Challenger are the worst among private schools. Basis Independent Silicon valley or Fremont is good. Harker is the best.
@beetl, do you have any personal experience with basis? I'm also trying to decide between schools. The tuition is higher there compared to challeneger/Stratford and it doesn't include after care
Stop the rubbish - there’s no “the best”. It depends on what the parents are looking for. Not everyone wants their kids stressed out and on adderall before 3rd grade.
West san Jose has good schools too you can look therr
Yeah the Lynbrook high school. It’s really good. But the house prices are quite high. We can’t cross 850K . that’s our limit.
Proxy for highly competitive schools is places with a heavy Asian/Indian demographic. Schools have high academic standards, low drug use, low truancy etc. Example Cupertino, Sunnyvale

Fremont- mission high or really any at this point.
In south, only Los Gatos, altos and Saratoga really have any decent public schools. The rest are hard to find, and most really suck. San ramon/dublin/Pleasanton have really great public schools! Private pricing varies, and of course, it all depends on the age of the kid(s)
