single women vs single men
I keep seeing a graph showing that the west coast has an abundance of single men and the east coast has more single women. I found this break down of that graph. Women are graduating from college at much higher rates in recent years.
Tech industry in the west, fashion industry in the east. One repels women, other repel men..
Ignore the preview image. Look at the break downs. East and west are a lot more similar than you think. Single men are more common in all cities at younger ages.

It’s the most recent census data. If you know of a more recent census please share. I did filter by 20-30. Maybe I wasn’t clear enough. That filter shows that there are more single young men in every city So NY isn’t the land of milk and honeys after all
Filter by zip code. Nyc has way more women near the google office ;)
The study defines single as not having been married, not people who are not dating. The data makes a lot of sense in that context. I think most men in their 20s are definitely not looking to marry and settle down so soon.
So if I’m doing badly as a straight man in NYC I definitely should not move west
If you look at the break downs every city is the same at younger ages. The real differences come with age
