Car accident at my fault, how to avoid paying the damages?
I will be soon biting the hand that fed me. My manager hired me as a laid off engineer and has protected me through both the layoffs. I am doing great impactful work and absolutely love my manager. He is the best I have had in my 5 year long career. But sadly the new opportunity I have is insanely better than Flexport (I don't hate flexport nor Ryan). My manager will sink into depression the day I announce my resignation. I will bite the hand that fed me when no one else was taking my loser ass. He sheltered me like I am his own. I understand corporates work differently but curious on how I should handle it. How do you guys suggest going about this ?
Ryan doesn’t give a damn about you. You’re replaceable like everyone. Tomorrow there’ll be a new guy.
How is this biting the hand that feeds you? Ryan will be just fine. Give your notice, thank him for everything and head on out.
Your manager will hire someone else. Add them on LinkedIn and ping them every now and then
In professional career never ever gets emotional. Your manager hired you because there was a opening under him. As soon as company target to cutoff, he might not have a single thought to layoff you. Had a same experience, and learnt that dont trust on anyone in the processional careers just focus on your growth.
Insanely better how? Don't look at TC only. Don't underestimate the value of a great manager that treats you right and shields you from layoffs. Might be worth engaging him in the conversation before you accept the other offer as well.
Absolutely do not tell him about the offer.
You owe him gratitude, but you don’t owe him your career. That’s it
Find a job for your manager at your new job
He'll forget you right after you inform him and count the bonuses he got for hiring someone way below market value
"My manager will sink into depression the day I announce my resignation" Dude it's a job not a marriage... Also, don't be too full of yourself; the world doesn't revolve around you. Your manger will cope... I hope this was a troll post. If not, congratulations 🎉. Express your gratitude and move on.
You are truly a humble man.
