Hello, Need some insights into the interview process at Carta. Specifically the coding exercise/refactoring code. What should the candidate expect? Please share your experience. #tech #interview #carta What is working at the company like? esp after the recent string of layoffs and bad press?
What do mean by keep recruiter in loop ? .. when I reached out to HR to set up clarifying questions I was told not to ask anything about take home assignment. I made some assumptions and in the end I thought I had written well documented working code but it was do not proceed without any feedback. Wondering what is going on
I said "keep the interviewer in the loop while coding". Emphasizing the fact that communicating your thought process is critical during the interview. The interview process has changed since 2020, but a lot of the evaluation goes beyond making the code work
Pick a language that you're most comfortable in. Before you start writing code, communicate a high level plan to the interviewer. Really read and internalize the task description. Keep the interviewer in the loop while you're coding. Why are you writing something? What are you stuck on? How does your code work? Working at the company is fun. My coworkers are super chill and it's a low-pressure environment. Having said that, the people who thrive are those who push themselves independently, who ask questions, and who insert themselves into initiatives and projects outside their team (hackathons, tooling, refactoring).
