Thanks in advance!
AWS: More exciting work/scope/growth, it's a proper software company. If you're on visa you can apply for GC. Schlumberger: Does not apply for GC. Not a well known name outside Oil and Gas. Very much dependant on the boom and bust oil cycle. Leadership has no idea about writing good software. But a good place to rest and vest if that's your thing. Focus on side business. Source: I have worked on both places as SDE. All my ex-colleagues who joined with me have since left and are now in other FAANG companies.
Schlumberger is not a software company. People here are nice, less stressed environment. Good projects, good teams but interm of growth I would suggest AWS.
AWS is shit but SLB is a bigger shit. So AWS!
I had 15 YoE in SLB before leaving. Terrible place. Previous CEO destroyed whatever good was left. Itโs just a bunch of third country unqualified people trying to become manager and do whatever it takes to get sponsorship to US. They will work 16 hour days, work overseas, not seeing family for months on end. Doesnโt matter. Nothing is better in their mind than SLB because their alternative is to go back to their shithole home country making 1/10th pay. Unfortunately for all western modern nations this will be a drain on your soul. No WLB. No promotion. No hope. Be fired anytime there is a revenue miss because COSTS MUST ALWAYS ALIGN WITH REVENUE!
She is petroleum/chemical engineer? If not then Amazon.
