i held all stocks i got from uber. i hope it goes up. but uber deliver fee is much higher than other services. Its profitability is not sustainable. i have some suggestions: 1, reduce unnecessary promotion projects, migrations, redo, etc in 3 years, half of my time was migrations. changing languages, changing platform, changing tools, redo features, moving logics between fe and be, and between services, etc 2, some teams are really overstaffed. i know one data query team having 3 staff working on one UI and one backend services. and the services always have performance issues and incidents. Come on, just buy a new presto cluster. 3, they should do perf management to managers too. some incapable managers are causing more problems than IC. in another team, one good engineer already finished 80-90% of a 3 month project. but the manager gave it to another crying boy, which spent another 6 months to do it and planned to use it for promotion. crying children have candy.

As someone who works in infra/dev tooling, living from migration to migration is just how it is. Not because we always change our minds or made bad decisions, but because we're trying to make people's lives better and more efficient, yet because the scale of the codebase is massive, everything is a migration. In smaller codebases you just make a change and it's done, but when you have thousands of services/projects, it's gotta be done more tactfully and all the engineers need to be trained and communicated with. The job of a dev tooling engineer can be tough sometimes because I can clearly see how things could be better but it's a massive effort to implement those changes
