Amex or Nordstrom?

Started at Amex in August. Both are new grad roles - would it look very bad on my record that I changed jobs in a month? - i eventually want to work in tech, which company on my resume would be better? Amex Location: Phoenix, AZ TC: 77k Nordstrom Location: Seattle or LA TC: 122k (Seattle), 140-150k (LA) #tech

At Nordstrom you get a 33% discount and one week in December discount is 40%. You will become everyone’s favorite person.

I’m kinda more worried about job hopping as a new grad

Isn't that offer really good for LA? LA cost of living is only slightly more than Seattle no? I would definitely leave

I wouldn't even put Amex on my resume if I was there for a month. For perspective, you would have to hit senior at Amex in phx to get to 120k. They are very stingy with promotion and raises

Got it. Do you think Amex looks better on the resume just for the name (across time and to recruiters) if we overlook TC?

Don't have much insight to company perception to recruiters. But from what I read, Nordstrom is using public cloud tech such as AWS/GCP, kubernetes compared to Amex on-premise IaaS/PaaS that comes with its own way of doing things. I would go with Nordstrom simple bc public cloud experience is something other companies will look for when you start looking for your next move

You don’t have to disclose the current job on your resume if you don’t want to. You can leave it off. It’s also in how you position it or tell the story. You were recruited for this role given your experience and it would be a disservice to not consider it
