i always hear from everyone how they hate work there. super long hours, low pay, toxic enviorment. But still i see so many people are going there what is the point? when out there so many cool companies, interesting projects big 4 (audit companies)
show me where else I can make 400k/year and I'll see myself out edit: oops, big4!=FANG
Which one are you at? Your profile still shows LI.
Lol I think LinkedIn thought OP was talking about FANG
It's like doing theater before movies or prostitution before theater
🤣
I am not doing audit, I am in advisory. With that said, I disagree with your statement. The hours are not too long , normal hours are 45-55 hrs/wk on average. I have worked with many different teams and only I have been annoyed by one or two people. My home team is actually great. But, yes you could end up having a lot of travels. On average I travel about 30-40% of time. I work from home 30-40% times as well. As for comps the people here have a broad range of backgrounds. I think some are paid well and some are not paid that well. But the comps are definitely not great. I am more on the technical side (quant) and paid average at best.
Stability, employment... Hours are rough and pay is depressing.
I didn’t know what PwC was when I applied 😂 still got the job.. but I’m IFS.. not client facing.
Obviously you heard from the people that are not happy with the work. Just like coding, audit or consulting is not for everybody. It takes a certain type of personality that enjoys constant travel, changing environments, learning quick, and more important, the ability to work in teams and with a lot of pressure. It is fast paced because clients are paying a lot of money for the hours so we have to deliver. Remember that clients hire us because they cannot do it themselves. To answer your question, people come with different expectations: 1. Some expect it to be temporary, just enough to learn valuable skills, network with a ton of people then leave for greener pastures; 2. Some will join to make a career in it because they like the lifestyle; 3. Some just don’t understand what they are getting into and get bitter about it then leave. Also the salaries are actually good if you consider the average salary in the US, of course they are not good enough for all the TC jocks in Blind, but if you leave them out, most people will actually be very happy with them. Keep in mind that not all tech companies pay good base salaries, there is a lot of people fantasizing TC that will never materialize. Finally not everybody wants to be a code developer or product manager, there are other occupations that satisfy people.
Second this explanation plus consulting prepares you for a ton of leadership roles. If you are on the right projects you get tons of exposure to leadership and how they make decisions
Also money is good in consulting. May not be developer money but i d say am sure consulting makes decent bucks
Good comp; not everyone hates the work. I find it really interesting - sure hours suck at times. Would I rather be making developer money? Yea. Do I make more than I should? Yes.
FAAMG bonuses are high
Don't include M in that list.
Really? Thought Microsoft has good RSUs
I mean i hate here but pay is good. Im just not smart enough to do better.
Brainwashed some are Others have no better options
This
True - when I was in school taking accounting classes, I was surrounded by business school students drooling over big 4 audit internships and offers... made me think oh must be nice I should also apply
