Why don't you describe it here? The topic certainly draws attention.

Its both the biz model and revenue required for an IPO. One doesn’t work and the other won’t happen in years. That’s all I can say.

I don’t know if it was just the experience in my role or org, but I’m pretty certain that job gave me depression. I wouldn’t wish working at instacart on my enemies (or Ravi, apparently)

Great work life balance. Reasonable (not great) comp for what’s expected of an employee. Lots of great people. Culture can feel a bit artificial at the company level but my experience within team and organization have been much more collaborative and impactful. No plans to leave.

How about eng culture? How is the tech stack? I was surprised to learn that the backend is on RoR and the frontend is on Node.

Eng culture is blameless and collaborative for the most part. Could be better in regards to enforcing best practices and documentation but it’s getting better as is hiring effective management. Lots of opportunity for on and off task impact and to work with non eng teams. Gamut of experience and skill levels as well. Lots of opportunities to contribute modestly or to dive in and grow at a fast rate. As with anywhere, some really great folks and some shitty ones. Stack is mostly rails and react, but some orgs are branching out. Lots of opportunities on newer teams to “break tradition” as well if there are better solutions to the problem. It’s my first job in the space so I don’t have a standard of comparison for eng culture but as far as general work environments go, I’d say it’s better than most.
