Yes that includes you, California. What are y’all thinking? The Colorado river is drying out. The rains have stopped. It is only a matter of time before the aquifers run dry and crops fail. My 2c which can turn into $2m in a few years - sell that San Jose crack shack to the next fool and move cross country to the northeast or the Midwest. Find a nice big mansion close to the lake or the mountains in Vermont or Ohio or some place. Get a remote job and enjoy life in the paradise of tomorrow.
Salty
The only reason people live in the northeast is government jobs. Have fun dating in the Midwest when your date’s options are babynames.com or the chair.
Brah I’m making a point about climate but if your rebuttal is to somehow say that the dating scene in San Jose is better than the Midwest, you’re not winning the argument (unless you are a single woman)
Mate do you live under a fucking rock? Do you not understand we live in possibly the most archaic theocracy?
Midwest will be far more impacted by climate change. The desert SW will stay hot. Forests will burn. But the economic impact will be limited. The Midwest will become unlivable.
But the vast majority of water use is agriculture. Surely we can cut down almonds in exchange for greener front lawns?
Agriculture in the Central Valley is done for anyway. Only a matter of time before it shifts northwards
It’s done for because they use a ton of ground water which never replenishes. The ag sector is F’ed. But the sierras collect a ton of rain and snow. We need more dams to collect the runoff from rain as opposed to stored snow, but there will be plenty of water for the cities and burbs.
OP, you’re 100% correct, but you’re talking to a bunch of idiot techies who think vegetables come from the store and water comes from the sink… They won’t stand a chance when the day comes for self sufficiency.
Lol, a doomsday prepper! Don’t see many of those at Apple.
The Colorado river has nothing to do with water in San Jose you moron.
I find it ironic that the people who most gripe about climate change and man destroying the earth congregated in the place least able to support millions of people and rely on transporting in water from other places. The solution is desal plants but the greenies won’t let those be built either.
That’s fine as long as they are solar/wind/nuke powered. But they won’t be economical for Ag.
Just had someone on Blind tell me yesterday that desalination was too costly to the environment, with no sense of irony about the bird and insect deaths from wind
Never seen the Midwest and paradise in the same sentence. Have you been to CA?
OP: it’s not that easy to just uproot family from San Jose and move to some random place in the Midwest just because it is cheap. Cheap does not equal paradise. San Jose and Bay Area has its share of problems including drought. But just abandoning it for some random Midwestern town is not a solution for most people. Stay in San Jose and make the best of your life here
It is highly probable that San Jose was a random place to you at some point in the past
No, San Jose was not a random place for me. I had close family and very good friends here, hence moved here, and have now stayed in San Hose area for longer than anywhere else - so it’s home now.
You sound salty
Must be dehydrated from the heat wave. You sound defensive
I’m kinda mad you posted this because now a lot more people are going to realize what is going to happen in 2 - 10 years. SoCal is fucked.
