Got the official notice today that “my position was eliminated.” So now I’ve got 45 days to figure out where I actually want to work. I knew it was inevitable at some point when we got acquired in 2017, I suppose it’s on me for not jumping ship sooner. It sounds like the firm made some deep cuts just in time for the mid year shareholder letter. #layoff #jpmc #pm

That's crazy. It seemed like JPM was always open to DMs for referrals on blind.
JP does pretty consistent small layoffs and has for years. They really don't do reassignment of people unless it's under same MD. If an MD has to cut headcount, they just put someone in the layoff list. Person then has 45 days to find a job somewhere else. However, the problem with this system is that every manager knows that if a small amount of headcount has to get cut, it's often going to be low performers, so they'll be suspicious of hiring people on notice period.
