I plan on returning to work after a 6 month break. I took a break due to burnout and other health issues, mostly caused by stress. I want to take up flexible work options with partial work from home, and have good work life balance. however every time I bring this up, there is no interest from the hiring managers or recruiters. I passed the Amazon interview and when I brought this up, they lowered the offer so much that it did not make sense for me to accept. Appreciate any tips on how to get a job that has flexible hours and reasonable work life balance.
When you say flexible hours, do you mean you want to work 5 hours today, maybe 2 hours tomorrow, 4 hours on Friday? Flexible hours or part time is what most people what. Especially parents who just had a baby. There are not many part time jobs.
I mean flexible to not be at work/ office every day but work from home a few days or leave early etc.
Try a full time work from home job. That is what I do. However pay is usually less.
Thank you. How did you find this job?
Two remote-first companies that I’m aware of are Elastic and InVision. Good luck OP.
Search in google for “remote software engineer job”. Most major job search site has a filter for remote telecommute job.
Thank you all!
I want less work and more money for it! Also Microsoft is a good place for everything you mentioned no?
Looks like Amazon was willing to accommodate. But the trade off was less pay. Choosie beggars indeed.
