Left it for Chicago. Can’t say my life is better off, but at least I can afford a house. Weather sucks though. Wlb is great. Home by 6pm every day. Have a more active social life.
10/10 would leave Bay area again 👍
Where did u move ? Any more data about tc or housing or wlb
Phily. TC likely won’t change if you transfer internally, also some large companies like FB pay the same everywhere in US. East coast work culture is awesome. People work 9-5 sharp and then take the same 5:10 metro home every day. Great city housing under 700k purchase/2k rent. McMansions with swimming pools AND a jacuzi under 1.5M in suburbs under 30 min commute.
Seattle is great 👍
Moved to Florida and got the same TC, so it gets a lot more here. Have a bigger house, weather is awesome and life is simple. Downside, miss the mountains and hike.
95 degrees with 95% humidity is awesome?? And when weird shit happens, it happens in Florida. No thanks, although I hear Tampa/St Pete is one of the best areas in FL...
There is more than what you have described. Have you been to Florida during winter? It is the perfect weather in the entire world (trust me I have traveled a lot lot). Every wealthy person in east coast has a winter home here including the great Edison. I would take warm weather anytime than a cold/gloomy depressing weather. Have you heard of Naples? Come see how beautiful those houses by beach are.
Moved to Austin and bought a big house with a backyard. It was the best decision of my life. I’m married and our TC is 310k no kids.
I wish more people would leave Bay Area. It’s a great idea. Please do so.
Huge number of people leave every year. Mostly citizens. Population doesn’t go down co we replace them with H1Bs. Google for stats
I love bay area and dont plan to leave.
My ex boss moved to Austin. He got a huge mansion for half the price of a condo he sold here. No debt, salary reduced a bit but no taxes. He liked music and Austin has good vibes and places to hangout. Summer is hot but he isn't an outdoor guy so it doesn't bother him.
I'm sure the house and financials look great, but is he happy with his decision to move there overall?
^ Real question.
