Debating where to go with my career. I've been managing a team of 6 devs and 2 employees doing global ecommerce strategy work and (strangely) the infrastructure to support it through the dev team. Had a background in data warehousing so we built out our own systems/structure in Hadoop. Migrating to GCP. I've debated trying to push the strategy side and going more ad oriented maybe at FAANG. Though I know GCP certs are pretty hot right now and I'm sure I could easily finish one. I'm worried about getting boxed into the more IT side though. I enjoy actively solving problems even if I have to build a way to it. Not just building what's asked for. Any thoughts?
Apply for SDM positions in FAANG. Remember, any certifications doesn’t matter much. You need to solve coding problems, and show principles like googliness or Amazon LPs.
