I have one year left on my h1b, before I can extend it for another 3 years. Do companies hire people with one year left on their visa. I have heard Facebook does not hire in this situation. TC : 180k
I don’t think why anyone wouldn’t . Typically When they apply for h1b transfer they apply for h1b extension also. So when you move talk to attorney make sure they apply trf+extension
OP - Maybe you're not interested NYC side, but info sake: mostly all big financial companies in NYC say 'no' to even interviewing folks in this kinda H1-B situation.
This! It's insane. Why don't they do it? What's the liability?
OP - I wish I knew buddy; I hate the policy myself. A bunch of companies say atleast 20 months left on H1-B visa. Don't worry..it's lame and the good news is that there are a lotttt of great companies who don't care about this aspect.
No reason not to..If you have an approved I-140, they can use that to get an extension.
If you have an approved i140, it shouldn't matter.
For extension after 3 years 140 doesn’t matter. 140 come into play after 6 years
If you have your I140 approved with your current company, then you can typically get a 1 to 3 years extensions. I am not sure if Facebook has such a policy as you mentioned, I would suggest confirming this with the recruiter from Facebook you are working with.
Definitely YES with an approved I-140
How long before one can file for a GC, dont know the process so asking?
Suppose after I get my I-140 , I am let go . Will i still have 90 days period to find a job before I leave the country ? When you are H1b , you always have that sword hanging on your head that you have 90 days to look for job .
Yes, I had 3 months left and extension filed
Cool! Thanks.
Did you file for transfer while the extension was pending?
