Hello Everyone, I'm currently working as a contractor. I've had past three experiences as a contractor which didn't go so well, and had to move to different companies (1 due to reorg, and two due to budget issues). My past stints have been 5-7 months in avg. Got to dabble and experience new areas of work like ML. But, now I feel like my resume is a patchwork of contract experiences. Because, when the manager or recruiter asks why I left so-so in 6 months, is it okay to say I've just been a contractor ? Do you think this hurts my chances of getting a FT job? TC 130k.
It's less favorable compared to someone who has 2+ years at the same employer. The thing with contracting on a resume is you never know if it was terminated due to the contract ending or the candidate just wasn't a good fit. Pro tip from me, include that the contract ended or job was complete. It gives the hiring manager something to work with when you're up against Joe with x consecutive years at big company.
ahh i see. Thank you very much!
No problem.
Yes
Just put it under one job that did work for multiple companies as clients.
But, won't it come under background checks?
I'm not saying lie, just reframe the truth do that you don't look like a deadbeat. People don't read resumes very deeply.
Focus on improving your resume by getting certificates around your experience that helps a lot. I would put a positive spin and say I finished the project early And gained knowledge
That's a good way. Thanks! But I don't understand, what do you mean by "getting certificates around experience"?
