Facebook SWE IC4 - Fremont

Please help me evaluate this FB offer. MS + 3 YOE in a startup on very relevant projects + 3 YOE in an unrelated domain. Base: 143k Sign On: None Bonus: 10% Stocks: 110k/4 years TC: 184k (143 + 14.3 + 110/4) Looking at other offers for IC4/E4 here, this offers seems really low. Am I being lowballed because of startup experience or is it completely related to interview performance? Are IC4 and E4 the same?

No sign on looks weird. You should negotiate for sign on bonus. Do you have any other offers?

Robby Technologies gPFR34 OP Sep 4, 2019

I have a verbal offer (from a startup) and a potential offer (just had the onsite round yesterday) Not sure how much I can negotiate...

Facebook ewQj67 Sep 4, 2019

Hard to counter without other offers. Can try to get more stocks

Robby Technologies gPFR34 OP Sep 4, 2019

@ewQj67: Thanks for your thoughts. Do I at least have a chance to negotiate if my current salary is more than that?

Facebook ewQj67 Sep 4, 2019

You should definitely mention the initial offer is lower than your current comp, but don’t give them the number. Tell them you have other offers(startups or not)as well.

Dematic Larry Cook Sep 4, 2019

You tell them about the initial offer is low than present comp even if it is not true?

Facebook ewQj67 Sep 4, 2019

OP said his current comp is higher than the offer.

Facebook gadflybot Sep 4, 2019

Pretty big low-ball if this is for a standard SWE role.

Google jf8s3b Sep 4, 2019

are you swe?

Facebook phql2379 Sep 4, 2019

The base and bonus are fair. The no sign on is off for SWE and I’m not sure about stocks as I’m non-eng. Is the title SWE? Not data eng or something else? Sorry, hard to believe there’s no sign on offered with SWE.

Facebook ewQj67 Sep 4, 2019

Well, it’s possible. If you would sign the offer. Why not?

Facebook HotChips Sep 4, 2019

Doesn't look like an SWE IC4 offer. OP, IC4 is not the same as E4. E refers to SWEs. IC refers to SWEs and PMs and TPMs and anyone else not a manager.

Facebook e999 Sep 5, 2019

IC can also be enterprise engineers or whatever they are called now. But definitely not an E.
