Hi, I did my amazon online assessment. For first one 1 test case failed. Completely messed up the second answer. I tried to solve using dfs but it was more of a dp question. I was getting runtime exception. If that wasn’t enough, I hardcoded for 1 test case to see if it was happening only for that one but it was too late and code saved with hardcoded value!! I think there is no hope. Is there? Will I be completely blocked from amazon in future because the code saved with hardcoded value?
Passed the online assessment. All test cases passed. Still got a rejection. It Happens.
I feel when people don't get the answer, they make it sound harder by sayings it's a dp question (which can be solved with recursion worst case). Can you share the question you got ?
Yup. I'm 93% sure it was a BFS question.
A variation of minimum path sum. Why exactly 93%?
Should have went with a queue, not a stack 😘
Name one problem you cant solve with a stack that you can eith a queue please
My comment is referring to OP thinking that it was DFS and me thinking it was BFS. "Can't" is strong because stacks can be used to implement queues and vice versa. https://stackoverflow.com/q/3929079/30697
I had some test cases fail for my solutions too OP, don’t feel bad. We just have to keep grinding. Anyone else have their recruiter send them prep for the onsite before getting online assessment feedback? I found that odd.
Failing test cases is different than getting runtime exceptions 😓
Did you give a good response to how you approached the problem and time complexity? If it was a DP problem I fucked it up. Solved it like a graph problem which maybe why I had failed cases.
You will probably receive an email rejection in the next few days. But, you can receive an other invitation in the next week. We don’t care about the assignment. My friend received another assignment from another Amazon recruiter 2-3 weeks after.
You'll know in 2 days
So what happened to you? Did you get an on-site?
No, obviously
No, sorry. You will get another chance tho. Prob with a diff recruiter
Should I have to wait for 6 months?
No, not necessarily. I know someone who "failed" online assessment but got a call from a diff amazon recruiter like 2 months later to take another online assessment. I dont think you have to wait any time tbh. Just needs your resume to get picked up by a diff recruiters, I think. But I am not 100% sure
