Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act benefits one single country and profession (India / IT) What about all the other talents from all over the world? (Agriculture, Medical, Etc) Can you say that these non tech skills are not as skilled or significant? Our green card process should promote diversity and bring in skilled workers from various backgrounds / countries. Share your opinions
Right, and it happened because of the country cap. Once this backlog is cleared and no further country cap, there won't be any country based issuance anymore which will benefit everybody...
This will be after the 10+ years after the indian and chinese backlog has been cleared... even after, the backlog would even be worse for non tech people since 75%+ of all h1b approvals are from these countries / tech backgrounds. And with the country cap gone, the majority of the green card processing will only be for tech folks
Backlog will never be cleared... The total annual cap remains the same (140K), the number of new applicants grows every year, changing the order in which people are processed won’t make the line go faster.
This will just make our TC go down. I oppose
About 70% of every team I've worked with up until now has been Indian. Indians are cool but like ... It would be nice to include other people besides Indians.
60k Infosys people will increase along with 80k 996 Alibaba people. So i oppose
As an Indian I do not approve it. Every Indian on h1b thinks they are either Satya Nadella or Sunder Pichai.. we need to start having a good points system and specifically target based on skills and country needs. Why would you want 50k+ engineers every year? Is there a shortage of nurses or medical professionals in us? I have been in us for over 11 years now with pd of 2012 and patiently waiting. It would be good if it was point based on skills age education and experience as opposed to just a bloody stem degree and no experience..
'Every Indian thinks they are Nadella or Pichai'..Whats wrong with this thinking?
@Comm to start with, it's delusional. Classical dunning kruger
Something ignored in all of this is that this has been at the cost of Ameicans. Even engineering programs are being overrun.
The bill is not going to pass, relax and enjoy not having to share in the burden of an inequitable, broken and unfair immigration system. Feel smug and confident in your good fortune and assign it whatever positive spin you want (diversity, real skill is not being indian etc.) just stop spamming blind with dozens of threads with RoW getting their panties in a bunch for the love of God!
If you want a fair immigration system please go to Canada and enjoy their "equal" salary
Well I'm already a resident here but thanks though :)
The act is supposed to remove the country cap... how is it supposed to help only one country if there is no country cap. The basis of this act is purely based on merit, just like H1b.
There is 500,000+ eb category visa backlog for just india only. Once the cap is removed, uscis will be forced to only process these applications for couple years.
