My company matches 50% contribution. What fund should I choose for my Fidelity 401k plan? Looking for ‘safer’ options.
Why would you want a safe option? I assume your retirement is decades away.
FCNTX or Fidelity Contrafund. I was in this for 6 years and avg’d 30% yearly
Why don't you read and make your own informed choices?
Yes, this. Specifically: “Random Walk Down Wall Street"
If you want "safe", there are dividend funds like DSU (BlackRock Debt) and GHYAX (Goldman Sachs municipal bonds). You will never get 30% gains with these, but you won't lose money either.
One of Vanguard’s (or whichever low cost index you have among your 401k options) target retirement funds. This will give you a good diversified mix of stocks and bonds. If by safe you mean “will not lose value”, then there should be some cash/stable value option. But that wouldn’t make sense in a retirement account unless you don’t plan to live long.
VTSAX - it’s Vanguard’s entire US stock market fund. Plenty safe enough on the time horizon of retirement. Fidelity and others have equivalent funds.
